OAPIA and the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) to Announce Its Asian/Pacific Islander Bilingual Recruiting Initiative

Who: Soohyun Julie Koo, Director, Mayor’s Office on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs 
Assistant Chief Shannon Cockett, Director of Human Services, Metropolitan Police Department

What:  Director Koo and Assistant Chief Cockett will announce OAPIA and MPD’s Asian/Pacific Islander (API) Bilingual Recruiting Initiative to help increase MPD’s hiring of bilingual employees. This initiative is a part of Mayor Adrian  M.  Fenty's overall strategy to hire more bilingual employees to better serve the District’s diverse residents.
 
When: Tuesday, September 18th at 2:30 pm.

Where: Metropolitan Police Department, Joint Operations Command Center (JOCC), 300 Indiana Avenue, NW, 5th Floor, Washington, DC 20001

Every visitor/press members must pass through security.  Please come15-20 minutes prior to the start time of the press conference to pass through security.
