The Mayor’s Office on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs is proud to join efforts with the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities to inform the DC public about different events to celebrate May Asian and Pacific Islander American Heritage Month! APIA Heritage Month is a celebration of the contributions made by people of Asian and Pacific Islander descent. We have gathered information on the different celebratory events happening in and around DC. Most, if not all are free and open to the public.

Asian Pacific Islander American Heritage Film Festival
D.C. Asian Pacific American Film Festival, the Historical Society of Washington, DC and OAPIA present a free film screening:
American Aloha
For Hawaiians, the hula is not just a dance, but a way of life, an ancient art that tells of Hawaii's rich history and spirituality.
Following three master hula teachers, the film celebrates the perpetuation of a culture -- from the traditional to the contemporary -- as it evolves to distant shores.
Bring your family and friends and join us for a free film screening.
