OAPIA Grant: Pre-Bidder's Meeting Updates

The Mayor’s Office on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs held a pre-bidders’ meeting for the FY10 Asian and Pacific Islander (API) Community Grant on July 2nd. The following is a list of the questions and answers from the meeting:

Q: Would it be better for an organization to apply for a grant to provide programs/services that utilize their expertise? Or can they also apply for programs/services that are not directly related to their expertise?

Answer:  The 501c3 organization can do either. They can also partner with other organizations that may have the expertise that their own organization lacks.

Q: With regards to the less than $1 million operating budget eligibility requirement of the grant, does this pertain to the operating budget of the organization or program?

Answer: Either. Organizations that have less than $1 million program operating budget that serves the API residents may also apply. However, they should be able to demonstrate their expertise or experience of successfully running the program or partner with an organization that has.

Q: I am thinking of partnering with another organization to apply for API Community Grant. Does the requirement of having less than $1 million organization operating budget refer to only the lead agency? Or does it apply to both organizations whose name appears on the grant proposal?

Answer: It applies for both organizations.

Q: What if both organizations combined exceeds $1 million operating budget?

Answer: We only look at individual organization’s operating budget and not combination.
