1. Census 2010 Outreach Update

• Distributed materials in Ward 7 to 60 API merchants
• Distributed materials at Mongolian Embassy event and met with Thai embassy and Nepalese Embassy.

2. Census 2010 Informational Workshops Update – Elliot Lee may be contacting you regarding setting up a 2010 Census Informational workshop. Please contact Elliot Lee to set up a Census informational workshop at Elliot.lee@dc.gov or (202) 727-5560

3. Census 2010 Resources

• OAPIA website - Contains information on translated materials and is located as a link through the OAPIA website. This is the direct link - http://apia.dc.gov/apia/cwp/view,a,3,q,639005.asp
• New Census Mapping Tool – This maps out areas of "Hard To Count Populations".  http://www.censushardtocountmaps.org/

4. Census 2010 Media (update from 2010 National Office)

• National Television: Premiering on all National TV networks such as Zee TV (Asian Indian), TanTV (Korean) and Japan TV (Japanese)
• Local Radio: Launching in all markets including Seattle (KXPA AM 1540), San Francisco (Binh Minh Radio/ KVVN 1430 AM), New York (DHOOM FM), Kansas City (Radio TNT/KFSG 1690 AM) and Washington DC (Family Radio/WDCT 1310 AM)

5. Upcoming Census 2010 Updates

• 2010 Census Event Calendar – OAPIA will post an event calendar on OAPIA website in the upcoming month.
• API Census Stakeholder Conference Call – OAPIA will send information about the upcoming conference call next week.

6. 2010 Census Jobs - It's easy to apply! Call your Local Census Office and schedule an appointment to take the employment test. Use this  interactive map to find the local phone number of the nearest Local Census Office.
You may also call toll-free Jobs Line at 1-866-861-2010. TTY users should call the Federal Relay Service at 1-800-877-8339.

All census takers must be able to speak English, but people who have bilingual skills are needed in communities where a large number of residents primarily speak other languages. If you have the appropriate language skills and cultural knowledge to communicate well in your community, we encourage you to apply.
