(Washington, DC) The Mayor’s Office on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs (OAPIA) in collaboration with the DC Office of Personnel (DCOP) is hosting its annual DiverseCITY Job Fair: Promoting Career Opportunities For Asians And Pacific Islanders on Friday, September 8, 2006. The target audiences include general qualified Asian and Pacific Islander professionals, and bilingual or Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals for public and private sector opportunities. The event is cosponsored with Asian Fortune, JoongangUSA, KoreaTimes, Manila Mail, Pho Nho Weekly Newspaper, Vietnamese American Television, and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.
The DiverseCITY Job Fair is part of OAPIA’s continued efforts to ensure high level service delivery to LEP residents in the District and qualified bilingual professionals. This DiverseCITY Job Fair is expected to have over 150 exhibitors from the District of Columbia and federal governments, as well as from the non-profit and private sectors. Over 500 participants are expected for employment opportunities in either low skill jobs in service industry or technical, professional occupations.
The DiverseCITY Job Fair will be held in the National Building Museum located at 401 F Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001 (By Metro: Red Line, Judiciary Square Station, National Building Museum exit), on Friday, September 8, 2006 from 10 am to 4 pm. It is expected that this will be the largest job fair held to attract Asian and Pacific Islander speaking individuals in the metropolitan Washington region.
