Serve DC is searching for members to be on our Seasons of Service Task Force, a selected leadership team of District residents who will help lead Seasons of Service 2007.
Seasons of Service is a portfolio of opportunities for people to volunteer for service projects and activities throughout the year. More than 20 million people volunteer each year to be part of the Seasons of Service, which uses a year-round action plan to illustrate how a single day of service can grow into an ongoing habit of helping communities. The idea is to introduce people to serving so they will become lifelong volunteers.
The Task Force will include representatives from a diverse network of organizations such as local schools, faith-based organizations, nonprofits, national service programs, and neighborhood groups. The objective is to give community leaders voice and leadership, demonstrate the power of the community to use service to solve our community needs, and provide valuable experience and leadership development.
The Task Force will meet monthly. All meetings will be held at a time and day that is convenient for a majority of the team. There will be opportunities for leadership roles and specific outreach or special event tasks.
Specific organizations and individuals will be invited by Serve DC to select one youth and one adult to be a part of the Task Force. These organizations or individuals will organize and participate in projects. For more information please visit Serve DC's website or contact Dy Brown.
