Address Community Needs in Your Neighborhood

Washington, DC – Freddie Mac Foundation and Serve DC are partnering again to offer DC Metro applicants up to $750 in grant funding to support youth-led community service projects in District of Columbia communities. Youth (ages 5-25), teachers, youth leaders, youth-serving organizations, and organizations that engage youth in Washington DC are encouraged to submit proposals by March 14, 2007.

These grants support service projects on National and Global Youth Service Day, April 20-22, 2007. Projects can address any issues that youth identify as a community need. For more information, please first read the Notice of Funding Availability* annoucement and then submit the Freddie Mac Foundation Youth Service Grant application*.

DC’s National & Global Youth Service Day is successful because of a strong coalition of community partners that coordinate youth-led service projects. This year we plan on working with numerous district agencies to make sure that our youth are not only heard but they are able to impact their communities through meaningful projects. Help us Bring Service Back and register your project on our website.

National & Global Youth Service Day, the largest service event in the world, mobilizes young people to identify and address community needs through service, supports youth on a life-long path of service and civic engagement, and educates the public about the role of youth as leaders and community assets. Planning Tool Kits, Service-Learning Curriculum Guides, classroom posters, grants, and more are available for youth, parents, teachers, and organizations. Learn more about N&GYSD in the District. For additional information, please contact Dy Brown at (202) 727-7931.
