Call to Service! Start planning and registering your service projects now for Global Youth Service Day, April 25-27, 2008! Youth across the District of Columbia and the world will join together in April to lead simultaneous community service projects for the 20th Annual Global Youth Service Day. During GYSD 20,000 young people across the District will address unmet community needs through service and service-learning projects addressing literacy, school violence, disaster relief, poverty, and urban decay.
DC’s Global Youth Service Day is successful because of a strong coalition of community partners that coordinates youth-led service projects. Global Youth Service Day, the largest service event in the world, mobilizes young people to identify and address community needs through service, supports youth on a life-long path of service and civic engagement, and educates the public about the role of youth as leaders and assets.
This year’s theme is “REPRESENT!” You can represent your community, your school, or yourself by organizing a hands-on service project or by volunteering at any of the registered project sites. Register a service project now or view a listing of available projects!
