Fenty Names New Director of Serve DC

Washington, DC – Today, Mayor Adrian M. Fenty named Amy Ward the new director of Serve DC. Ward replaces Millicent Williams, who was recently confirmed as the new executive director of the Children & Youth Investment Trust Corporation (CYITC) by its board.

Ward joins Serve DC from the District’s Fire & Emergency Medical Services Department, where she was the chief of staff. Before holding that position, she was Serve DC’s director of the DC Citizen Corps.

“During her career in public service, Amy Ward has been committed to bettering the District of Columbia for its residents,” said Mayor Fenty. “I have full confidence in her ability to lead Serve DC and continue the strong work started by Millicent Williams, who will be a tremendous asset to CYITC.”

Amy Ward, Director, Serve DC

Amy Ward will serve as director of Serve DC, the volunteer arm of the Executive Office of the Mayor. She previously worked as chief of staff for the DC Fire & EMS Department. Before that, she served as the director of DC Citizen Corps for Serve DC where she managed more than 3,000 volunteers, the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and the Neighborhood Corps Academy and Commander Ready programs. Before attending and graduating from the David A. Clarke School of Law at the University of the District of Columbia, Ward attended Culver-Stockton College in Missouri where she received her Bachelor of Science in psychology and criminal justice. She currently lives in Ward 3.
