Serve DC Solicits Volunteers for General Election

As we prepare for the General Election, we are calling on interested volunteers to sign up with Serve DC. The Mayor’s Office on Volunteerism to assist with voting logistics. Please sign up for an absentee voting shift or a shift at a local precinct polling location. Please remember that volunteering with the city is a nonpartisan effort and there will be no campaign information or paraphernalia on volunteers or involved in this process.

To sign up for a shift (listed below) contact Serve DC at Shirley Hall (202) 341-3857 if you would like to volunteer or have any questions. Please give your name, contact information, and available shift(s). The shift breakdown is as follows:

Absentee Voting: Saturday, November 1
Two Shifts: 7:30 am to 1:30 pm and 1 pm-6 pm         
Building: One Judiciary Square                         
Address: 441 4th Street, NW                           
Metro: Judiciary Square Metro

Orientation will be at 7:30am each morning in the Old Council Chambers on the first floor. Please bring ID to enter building.

Election Day Voting: Tuesday November 4, 2008
Two Shifts: 8 am-1:30 pm and 1-6 pm

A group of volunteers will be needed to assist with logistics at each of the 143 polling places. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Shirley Hall (202) 341-3857 at with your preferred location and shift.

For polling place closest to you: http://www.dcboee.org/election_info/pollplaces/. These duties are separate and apart from poll workers duties. We are seeking assistance with the large crowds and logistics.
