Find Out About Five New Public Art Calls for Entries

Contact: Deirdre Ehlen (202) 724-5613

(Washington, DC) The DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities, DC Creates Public Art Program is now accepting applications for five public art projects located within the District of Columbia: Ellington Plaza, Washington Canal Park, Benning Road Bridge, CityVista Grate and 5th and K Plaza. The Arts Commission is working in collaboration with various District government agencies and community groups for each project. The goal of the projects is to integrate artistic enhancements that highlight these public places and express the character of the surrounding neighborhoods.

The competitive application process is open to all professional local and national artists who have site-specific and/or public art experience. Preference is given to artists who reside in the District of Columbia. Selected artists should have experience working with community representatives, landscape architects, businesses and government entities. It is also important that the selected artists be familiar with the history and master plans for each location.

All applications must be received by Friday, February 16, 2007 at 5 pm.
