DC Grooves is back! The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities announces the return of Washington's much anticipated evening outdoor concert series. This year's line-up features three internationally renowned performers: MC Hammer, Willie Colón and Little Richard. The shows run from 7pm to 9pm on Thursday, September 6 and 20, and Friday, September 14.
Come out and dance, sing and enjoy an evening in Washington, DC. Thursday, September 6 hip-hop superstar MC Hammer brings his distinct style to DC Grooves with his hits Too Legit to Quit, Pray and U Can't Touch This.
The following week, on Friday September 14, Willie Colón, the Architect of Urban Salsa, hits the stage. In his only US tour date in summer 2007, Colón performs favorites like Oh, Que Sera?, Che Che Cole and Murga. Opening for Colón is Washington's own Cuban salsa band, Orquesta Ashe.
DC Grooves grand finale presents DC's own glamorous Doo-wop divas The Jewels, opening for Little Richard who takes the stage September 20 with a full ensemble performing oldie-but-goodie favorites Tutti Fruiti, Long Tall Sally and Good Golly, Miss Molly.
"DC Grooves concerts will add to the vitality of our already thriving downtown," said Arts Commission Executive Director Tony Gittens. "We invite all of our residents and visitors to enjoy the diverse cultural activities Washington has to offer."
