The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities will present its fourth annual Dance DC Festival September 28-September 30. The Festival celebrates the vitality of folk and traditional dance in Washington and introduces audiences to distinctive and culturally diverse dance expressions.
Dancers will come alive at venues around the city in over 37 free performances and interactive workshops, including flamenco, capoeira, belly dance, hand dancing and Asian dance. The three-day festival is free and open to the public.
The Dance DC Festival opening night performance and reception is 6 pm, Friday, September 28 at the National Music Center at 801 K St, NW. Many of this year's performances will feature open dance floors for the public to join right in!
"Every ethnic community has unique dance styles to express their joys and aspirations," says Tony Gittens, Executive Director of the DC Arts Commission. "Dance DC is a showcase of the incredible talent and diversity that surrounds us." This year's festival sponsors include Vitamin Energy and WMATA.
