Performers Wanted for Folk and Traditional Arts Festival

The DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities is hosting its fifth Annual Folk and Traditional Dance Festival from September 26-28, 2008. This year's festival will feature music and dance at various venues across our nation's capital. Performances and workshops from a wide array of folk and traditional art forms will be held over the course of this three-day festival.

The Arts Commission is looking for various dance and musical performance groups and individuals from DC to perform at events throughout the city. Folk Arts are traditional cultural expressions through which a group maintains and passes on its shared way of life. Folk Arts are usually learned informally through performance, by example, or in oral traditions among families, friends, neighbors and coworkers rather than through formal education.

The deadline for receipt of applications is Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at 7 pm.
