The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities is proud to announce the winners of the 27th Annual Larry Neal Writing Competition. The winners were announced in a ceremony on Friday, May 7, 2010 at the Folger Shakespeare Library, Elizabethan Hall. The Awards ceremony was the culminating event for the competition, which was open to emerging and professional writers of all ages residing in the District of Columbia. The ceremony was presented in partnership with the PEN/Faulkner Foundation

Writer and lecturer Marita Golden joined the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities and members of the public as the evening’s Mistress of Ceremonies. Special guest Sherman Alexie, winner of the 2010 PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction attended, gave special remarks to the winners and their guests.
