The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, in cooperation with the Washington Convention Center recently completed installation of Art Walk, a large-scale outdoor exhibition of 12 works by local artists, on the site of the old convention center (10th Street between New York Avenue and H Street, NW). Tied together by the common theme of Metamorphosis–(a complete or marked change in appearance, character or condition)–each thought-provoking work is illustrative of the changing nature of this center-city location. The prints measure 7-feet high by 24-feet long and are mounted in heavy gauge 12” steel beam frames. Media include photography, painting and digital composition.
“Art Walk is an example of how art can transform the mundane into an exciting aesthetic experience,” said Arts Commission Executive Director Tony Gittens.
