(Washington, DC) The DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities is now accepting nominations for the 21st Annual Mayor's Arts Awards. The Arts Awards are the most prestigious honors conferred by the city and will be presented and hosted by the Mayor at an Academy Awards-style ceremony at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in January 2006.
The public may nominate artists, arts organizations or patrons of the arts in the following categories: Excellence in an Artistic Discipline, Outstanding Emerging Artist, Excellence in Service to the Arts, Outstanding Contribution to Arts Education and Innovation in the Arts.
Past recipients include Chuck Brown, Roberta Flack, Cephas and Wiggins, Leonard Slatkin, Arena Stage, the Washington Opera and Sweet Honey in the Rock.

| Who May Nominate: |
Anyone may nominate an artist, arts organization or patron of the arts who is a resident or reside in the District of Columbia.
All nominees must be residents of the District or institutions whose primary place of business is the District of Columbia. |

Where to Obtain Nomination Forms: |
Nomination forms can be obtained three ways:
1. Download a form from the Mayor's Arts Award web page, below,
2. Call the DC Arts Commission at (202) 724-5613 and request a faxed form, or
3. Call the DC Arts Commission to request one by mail. |
