(Washington, DC) From Friday, September 29 to Sunday, October 1, the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities will celebrate the vitality of the folk and traditional dance community in the city and introduce dance lovers to distinctive and culturally diverse forms of dance. Venues around the city will be hubs of dance activity and feature free performances and interactive workshops in styles that will include African, Bhangra, Capoeira, Flamenco, Hip-Hop, Tango and Ribbon Dancing. The three-day festival is free and open to the public.
“Every ethnic community has dance styles that celebrate tradition, joys and aspirations,” said Anthony Gittens, Executive Director of the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. "Dance DC is a showcase of the incredible talent and diversity that surrounds us."
