(Washington, DC) The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the Washington, DC, area from 7 pm tonight, March 1, through Friday morning, March 2. One to three inches of rain are possible across the area. Flooding of creeks and streams along with low lying and urban areas is possible.
Residents are encouraged to monitor forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
The short term forecast calls for scattered showers to spread across the region through the evening hours and continue overnight. Rain may be heavy at times with rainfall rates of up to a quarter inch per hour and visibilities reduced to around one mile.
