(Washington, DC) The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for the District of Columbia until 11 pm for Monday, June 26. Residents are urged to stay inside if possible and exercise caution if they must drive.
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely. Move to higher ground.
Persons living in flood prone areas should have disaster supplies on hand and move items off the floor in basements, clean drains and window wells and have sandbags on hand in case they are needed.
More information on preparing for urban floods is available from the
DCEMA Flood Fact Sheet*.
