Go DC in Google Earth!

The Office of the Chief Technology Officer's DC GIS program has enhanced the District of Columbia's comprehensive geospatial data warehouse by making it available within Google, Inc's innovative visualization software, Google Earth.  The familiar interface enables users of any technical sophistication level to interactively use publicly available DC GIS data. There are over 200 geospatial layers available to you from the DC GIS Data Clearinghouse/Catalog.

To start, obtain the latest version of Google Earth by visiting http://earth.google.com/.  Google, Inc. provides a free version of Google Earth for all interested persons.  Following installation, search the DC GIS Data Clearinghouse/Catalog by keyword to find the latest DC GIS data.  Click the Google download option to save or open KML data directly in Google Earth.

For more information about DC GIS Google activities visit the DC Google GeoSpatial Partnership page.  For assistance in using DC GIS data in Google Earth, please contact us.
