The Geographic Information Systems Steering Committee (GISSC) formally voted and approved bylaws and an executive committee October 15, 2009. The newly established bylaws provide governance for the GISSC such as meeting and voting procedures, member participation practices, official roles and rules for the formation of subcommittees. Read the full GISSC Bylaws*.
As part of the bylaws, the GISSC also nominated and elected its members of the Executive Committee. Charlie Richman in the Office of Planning and David Koehler in the Department of Public Works, will serve as the Executive Committee for the GISSC. The Executive Committee, under the leadership of the chair, establishes priorities and identifies issues that must be addressed by the full GISSC.
The adoption of bylaws and the election of an executive committe are successes of the recently finalized DC GIS Strategic Plan*. Please visit the GISSC webpage for more information and recent activities.
