The Washington, DC Economic Partnership (WDCEP) and the DC GIS program in the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) are pleased to announce the release of the Retail Site Search. This new web tool for retailers, restaurants and small businesses will help find space in the District of Columbia to open up shop.
The new retail site search allows retailers to query more than 280 retail opportunities by size, neighborhood, timeframe and location. The information for each site includes space availability for lease, Metrorail and traffic counts, neighborhood demographics, images for the space and leasing contacts.
The tool integrates technologies and data coming from various entites such as Google Maps & Streetview, the District's Master Address Repository and Basemap web services, the Vector Property Map Guide and layers coming from the Office of Zoning. The rich data and technology offerings provide potential retailers an opportunity to go beyond just retail site information and learn zoning around a site or even determine the size of an adjacent parcel using the map layers function.
The WDCEP provided the retail sites and the design of the web site and partnered with OCTO to create the functionality of the tool.
