District to Hold Senior Day May 17

(Washington, DC) Mayor Adrian M. Fenty has proclaimed May 17 as Senior Day in the District. Residents 60 and older will celebrate the day under the theme “Living Longer through HWI: Health, Wellness and Information.” The event will offer choices and resources including in the health and wellness village, health screenings, basketball demonstration, a walking trail, caregiver respite support, chair massage, cosmetology and asthma information.

In the public safety and utilities pavilion, legal advice, benefits check, health and prescription counseling, home repair and utility assistance. In the information and assistance pavilion, volunteer opportunities homebound meals and group meal sites, voter information and employment and training information. The event will also feature live music and entertainment, dancing and a nutritious meal.
