District to Hold 42nd Annual Senior Day May 18

(Washington, DC) Mayor Anthony A. Williams has proclaimed May 18 as Senior Day in the District. Residents 60 and older will celebrate the day under the theme “Choices for Independence.” The event will offer choices and resources including in the health and wellness village, health screenings, basketball demonstration, a walking trail, caregiver respite support, chair massage, cosmetology and asthma information. The public safety and utilities pavilion will feature legal advice, a benefits check, health and prescription counseling, and home repair and utility assistance. In the information and assistance pavilion, attendees will find information about homebound meals and group meal sites, volunteer opportunities, voting and employment and training. The event will also feature live music and entertainment, dancing and a nutritious meal.
