(Washington, DC) A heat advisory has been issued for the District of Columbia for today and tomorrow with heat indexes expected to reach 100. The D.C. Office on Aging (DCOA) urges seniors to take advantage of cooler surroundings during this period of high temperatures and high humidity.
Older persons should avoid mid-day sun. If you must go out, remember to take protective measures to ensure that you will not be affected by the extreme temperatures such as, stay in the shade, wear a wide-brimmed hat, wear light-colored and light-weight clothing, drink plenty of decaffeinated liquids and take it easy.
