(Washington, DC) Employees who hope to meet their agency’s training requirements need to register early as classes are filling up quickly, says Errol Arthur, Interim Director of the D.C. Office of Personnel’s Center for Workforce Development (CWD).
“If you start now, the chances of getting the course you’re after is much greater,” Arthur said. “If your director is mandating courses, start applying now.”
CWD Registrar James McBride said the Excel courses have been very popular, as has Conversational Spanish.
If you are interested in enrolling in courses please obtain a request form from your training office or your Human Resources Advisor, obtain your immediate supervisor’s signature, and return the form. Once the registration is approved, you will receive an email confirmation from CWD. Please remember that most agencies will not allow multiple staff from a single work unit to train at the same time.
Please keep in mind that you cannot register for an “intermediate” or “advanced” course until you have successfully completed the “entry-level” course. You are able to test out of the “entry-level” in some cases by going online.
All District employees are encouraged to take trainings that will lead to their professional success. CWD coordinates training programs and activities for District government agencies and employees, including senior executives, middle managers, supervisors, and front line employees. CWD provides career assistance, resource centers and specific agency training needs in partnership with universities, vendors and other local training institutions.
