The DC Department of Human Resources (DCHR) reminds all District government employees to refer to Mayor’s Memorandum 2008-1* when calculating their usage of excess leave.
The purpose of the Mayor’s Memorandum is to remind District government agencies of the policy concerning the scheduling and use of “use or lose” annual leave (annual leave in excess of 240 hours); and the process of restoring annual leave.
The rules concerning the maximum amount of annual leave that can be carried over from one year to the next, and the provisions on the restoration of annual leave are contained in the District Personnel Manuel (DPM) Chapter 12, Hours or Work, Legal Holidays and Leave.
