The DC Council on Tuesday, September 19, approved a four-year collective bargaining agreement with unions representing approximately 9,000 employees in Compensation Units 1 and 2. The agreement will give union employees annual salary increases through FY2010 as follows:
- A 3 percent increase effective October 1, 2006
- A 3.25 percent increase effective October 1, 2007
- A 4 percent increase effective October 1, 2008
- A 4 percent increase effective October 1, 2009
This first change will be reflected in paychecks received October 24, 2006, and October 27, 2006. The new salary schedules are available online at the DCOP Web site.
As part of the collective bargaining agreement, a joint labor-management task force has also made revisions to the Compensation Units 1 and 2 pay schedules. The effect is to allow future pay increases to be implemented more efficiently and allow adjustments to be better targeted toward occupational groups where the need is most critical. These changes will be reflected in paychecks received October 10, 2006, and October 13, 2006.
