(Washington, DC) -- With the 2009 Inauguration less than two months away, hotels and motels in the District are booking up very quickly. On Thursday, Mayor Adrian Fenty announced an Executive Order, temporarily suspending the enforcement of city regulations that require residents to have a basic business license and a certificate of occupancy for short-term leasing agreements on residential property, making way for District residents to rent their homes during the Inaugural period.
The Department of Consumer & Regulatory Affairs is offering a sample lease agreement to help make renting easier for the lessor and the renter. The sample agreement allows for clear-cut parameters to be put into writing before any monetary transaction takes place, including length of stay, deposit amounts and any limitations of a tenant's use of the property.
Feel free to download the sample lease agreement and remember to take caution before finalizing any deal.*
