DCRA Needs Help in Finding Source of Counterfeit Lottery Winnings Letters

(Washington, DC) -The Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA) has uncovered counterfeit letters being printed on fake DCRA letterhead claiming residents have "won a lottery" and the agency urges residents to ignore all statements in the letter.

DCRA is currently investigating the source of the letters and needs your help. If you have received a similar letter, please contact the DCRA Office of Consumer Protection at (202) 442-4615 immediately or file a complaint at consumer.dc.gov.

Residents should always be weary of any claims of lottery winning that require some sort of advanced payment. Residents are urged to call DCRA if they have any concerns or questions about suspicious documents.
