WASHINGTON - The Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA) was awarded the Public Service Award from the Federation of Citizens Associations of the District of Columbia on Tuesday for being the most improved public agency.
The Federation of Citizens Associations, which was established in 1910 and incorporated in 1940 and represents dozens of civic associations, said the recognition was for "stringent and aggressive" actions against the proliferation of used car lots across the city and the implementation of the "innovative, highly successful" One Stop Permit Center and the creation of the Homeowner's Center.
"We commend the performance of these dedicated but much maligned public servants," the citation states.
DCRA Director Linda K. Argo, who accepted the award, said is very honored by the award.
"It was a particular honor to receive this award on behalf of the hard working employees at DCRA," Argo said. "The Federation of Citizens Associations represents the people who we serve and who we rely on for input in how to continue to improve services."
"This really validates what the Mayor and I are trying to do with the level of service we provide," Argo said.
