Application Deadline for Firework Sales License, Temporary Structure Friday at Noon

(Washington, DC) - The Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs and DC Fire and Emergency Medical Service will accept applications for Firework Sales licenses and permits for temporary structures through Noon on Friday, June 26 2009.

There will be no exceptions to the deadline on Noon on Friday, June 26, 2009. We strongly urge all customers to come apply for the license as soon as possible as you will need to have two required inspections completed before sales can begin. For more information, visit the Fire Sales Permit and License information page.

The District of Columbia regulates fireworks sales and two agencies have primary responsibility for making sure fireworks are sold and enjoyed in a safe and legal manner — the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA) and DC Fire & Emergency Medical Services Department.

All businesses that store or sell fireworks — in a temporary or permanent structure — must have posted a valid Basic Business License and Certificate of Occupancy — both issued by DCRA. Businesses also need to have a posted firework permit and pass an inspection from the DC Fire and EMS Fire Prevention Division.
