The Department of Consumer & Regulatory Affairs is wrapping things up after playing host to several events during National Building Safety Month. The events, held at various venues throughout the city, were attended by hundreds and included workshops, information distribution points at local hardware stores and a live online chat with chief building inspector Don Masoero.
DCRA partnered with several District agencies to disseminate the most pertinent information to residents, including the DC Department of the Environment (DDOE), the Department of Public Works (DPW), DC Fire and EMS (DCFEMS) and the DC Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency (HSEMA). Social media and other interactive tools were used throughout the month, including announcements and other tips via Twitter, where the agency posts microblogs as @DCRA.
A host of valuable information, which can be printed and downloaded, is still available here at the agency’s website. The list includes everything from tips on cleaning up after a flood to getting out of a burning house safely. Those and other valuable resources can be accessed via this link.
DCRA will host a final National Building Safety Month event on Friday, May 28th with an information distribution table at the Home Depot on Rhode Island Avenue, NE. There, agency staff will be able to answer questions in person and show those interested how to use the permit kiosk stationed at the location.
