The 2009 Retired Teacher Election Process Has Commenced

The DC Retirement Board (DCRB) has commenced the 2009 Retired Teacher election process. The election schedule is as follows:

Nomination of Candidate for Trustee form mailed September 8, 2009
Nomination of Candidate for Trustee form to be returned September 28, 2009
Drawing of Lots (Placement on Ballot) Candidates ONLY October 30, 2009
Ballots mailed November 10, 2009
Deadline for ballots to be returned and last day to vote via telephone December 7, 2009
Certification of results December 17, 2009
Challenges to election filed with the Board January 1, 2010-January 25, 2010
Election results are final January 26, 2010
Elected Retired Teacher term begins January 28, 2010

Retired Teachers, as defined in the DCRB Election Rules*, include retired District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) employees who served in a salary class position ET 1-15. Retired Teachers can vote either by mail ballot or via telephone. The instructions to vote via telephone will be mailed with the ballot and ballot instructions.

If you do not receive a ballot or if you have any inquiries regarding the Retired Teacher election, please contact the DC Retirement Board at (202) 343-3200.

UPDATE:

As of November 5, 2009, the candidates will appear on the ballot in the following order:

Robert Dickerson, Willie McElroy, Yvonne D. Coates, Annie F. Hopkins, Mary A. Collins, Lillian Y. Ingram, Ralph H. Neal, Irene V. Mitchell, Allen E. Chin, Faye D. Smith, Judith C. Marcus
