Washington, DC—As the economy of the District of Columbia increasingly ‘goes green,’ the District government is surveying businesses to help increase their opportunities in the green economy. 

The Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) and the Mayor’s Green Collar Jobs Advisory Council designed the survey. Young people from the Mayor’s Green Summer Job Corps, who have worked on cleanup projects and environmental education all summer, will handle the distribution. The goal is to gain a better understanding of which District businesses have green operations, products and/or services.

By collecting information about local business’ level of green expertise, DSLBD plans to connect businesses with green opportunities that will help them reduce overhead costs, expand customer bases, and participate in District projects.

DSLBD wants to hear from any business with any level (or lack thereof) of green capabilities and practices. The agency encourages businesses that are interested in going green to respond to the survey.
