Be advised that Mayor Adrian M.  Fenty is scheduled to get behind the wheel of one of DDOT’s four “brine” tankers today at Noon at the District’s largest salt dome—at 401 Farragut Street, NE. The tanker is designed to spread a mixture of salt and water to help aggressively treat the District’s roadways during winter storms. DDOT recently began using the tankers after researching best practices in other cities with frequent winter storms. DDOT acting Director Emeka Moneme will be available to update reporters on preparations for possible overnight icing.
