(Washington, DC) District Department of Transportation (DDOT) officials will be available for a media briefing on the subject of Operation Fast Forward III on July 4th.
DDOT, in coordination with its regional transportation and public safety partners, will carry out a limited test of its emergency traffic signal timing pattern and traffic operations following the fireworks in the National Mall on July 4th.
The Operation Fast Forward III test will incorporate the lessons learned from the previous two Operation Fast Forwards. The exercise helps DDOT evaluate regional traffic signal timing and test emergency transportation communication and operations protocols. DDOT and its regional partners remind pedestrians and motorists to obey all traffic laws, including crossing at designated crosswalks, and following the directions of Metropolitan Police and other law enforcement personnel.
At the briefing DDOT officials will outline the specifics of this year’s test.
