Media Contact: Karyn Le Blanc 202-671-3490

(Washington, DC) - Mayor Adrian Fenty along with Emeka Moneme, Director of the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), is scheduled to announce the implementation of new work zone standards that will require either covered walkways or protected open walkways at most construction sites.

These standards, which DDOT expects to fully implement by April 1, address the safety concerns expressed by residents and visitors regarding construction related sidewalk closings.
