DDOT Issues Streetcar Solicitation

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is preparing to begin construction on the Anacostia Demonstration Streetcar Project to initiate the return of streetcars to the District of Columbia. The 1.3-mile Initial Line Segment will provide improved access to neighborhood centers, and provide enhanced transit connections to existing rail and bus lines.

The Anacostia Demonstration Streetcar Project extends from the Anacostia Metro Station to Bolling Airforce Base along Firth Sterling Avenue and South Capital Street. There will be four stations; Anacostia Metro Station, Barry Farm, Naval Annex, and Bolling Air Force Base.

The District of Columbia Office of Contracting and Procurement (OCP), on behalf of DDOT, is seeking a Contractor to provide all labor, materials and equipment for the construction of the Anacostia Initial Line Segment and the Operation and Maintenance Facility, and reconstruction of Firth Sterling Avenue.

An Invitation  for Bid (IFB) for the project will be available April 25, 2008.  Bidding documents can be purchased for $100.00 per set.

A pre-bid meeting has been scheduled for Thursday May 8, 2008 from 10 am to 12 pm. The location will be the Edna Frazier Cromwell Community Room, 2nd Floor, Reeves Center, 2000 14th Street, NW,  Washington DC, 20009

Bids will be publicly opened by the Office of Contracting and Procurement Support Branch, 2000 14th Street, NW, 3rd Floor, Washington, DC 20009 on June 6, 2008 at 2:00 PM. Additional information regarding the procurement is available at www.ocp.dc.gov.
