DDOT's Storm and Road Update, Trees Down Throughout the District

Media Contact:  Karyn Le Blanc at (202) 671-3490

(Washington, DC) DDOT Urban Forestry Administration is reporting approximately 30 trees down throughout the District, significant debris and an average of 25-30 large branches and limbs down in each ward.

Some District streets, sidewalks, and alleys remain blocked or laden with debris. On Reservoir Road, Minnesota Avenue, and Eastern Avenue, fallen trees have been removed and the roads are reopening.

It is anticipated it will take at least until the end of the week to clear all the debris. DDOT normally clears roads, trees on houses/cars, sidewalks and then alleys. Residents are reminded to take care even after the storms are finished and be alert for possible falling limbs that may come off the trees due to additional winds and stress.

Traffic signals are also out in various locations due to power outages. These intersections are to be treated as four-way stops.

Weather reports indicate some additional storms may be expected into the evening. Motorists are encouraged to drive with extreme caution and be aware of possible flooding on the roads.
