(Washington, DC) The District of Columbia Department of Transportation is pleased to announce the list of distinguished speakers who will address the annual conference of the Northeast Association of State Transportation Officials (NASTO) in Washington, April 3-6. The speakers include Senator James Jeffords; Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton; Mayor Anthony A. Williams; Mary W. Peters, Administrator, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA); and Rodney Slater, former Secretary of Transportation.

The conference will allow transportation directors from 14 states, four provinces, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico to discuss issues, meet members of Congress and top administration officials and examine new transportation technology.

There will be panels on surface transportation reauthorization, how security measures meet daily transportation needs, funding for Amtrak and mass transit, regional incident management, environmental streamlining, and evacuations and homeland security. Nationally recognized firms will display new construction and transportation technology.

All conference proceedings will be held at the Renaissance Hotel (Marriott), 999 9th Street, NW, in downtown Washington.
