DDOT Joins Federal Government and Local Community to Celebrate New Gateway into the District of Columbia

Contact (Media Only): Erik Linden (202) 671-2004

(Washington, DC)  Michelle L. Pourciau, Acting Director of the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), on Wednesday will celebrate the completion of the Southern Avenue Bridge at Naylor Road, running over Suitland Parkway. The $8.2 million project began in 2004 and work consisted of the replacement of the old Southern Avenue Bridge. The new bridge includes significant streetlight upgrades with modern design and new landscaping around the bridge in the works in the coming weeks. The new bridge design allows for a gentle and aesthetically pleasing entrance into the District of Columbia.
