DDOT Begins Final Phase of Streetscape Improvements in LeDroit Park
Road Work to Begin on Fourth Street, NW

Contact (Media Only): Erik Linden (202) 671-2004

(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is pleased to announce that it will begin road work and streetscape upgrades to Fourth Street between W Street and Florida Avenue, NW, on Monday, March 19, 2007.

DDOT crews will begin working from Florida Avenue and Fourth Street and head west towards W Street.

The Fourth Street project includes utility and streetscape improvements such as new sidewalk, curb and gutter, tree boxes and landscaping, streetlights (historic Washington Globes) and traffic signal upgrades and road reconstruction.

Construction hours are from 7 am to 7 pm Monday through Friday. The project is scheduled for completion in March 2008, weather permitting.

The first phase of traffic control—currently estimated to begin on or about March 23—weather permitting, include a detour for southbound Fourth Street traffic, from Fourth Street to U Street then to Fifth Street and proceed onto Florida Avenue. Northbound traffic will remain the same.
