(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) together with Federal Highway Administration has released the Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the 11th Street Bridges project.
The EIS, available in libraries near the project site and on the project website, www.11thStreetBridgesEIS.com, presents the impacts of a preferred alternative, four other build alternatives, and a no-build alternative. All alternatives avoid long-term impacts to the Anacostia Community Boathouse.
The preferred alternative, which is identical to build alternative 1 west of the Anacostia River and build alternative 2 east of the river, avoids impacts the Virginia Avenue Park and has a net benefit to Anacostia Park.
The public review on the EIS extends until November 20, 2007.
