Inauguration to Impact Some Construction Projects in the District

mapMedia Contact:  John Lisle at (202) 671-2004

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is reminding DDOT contractors and anyone doing construction in public space that they may be impacted by special restrictions imposed for the Presidential Inauguration.

Beginning at 2 pm on Friday, January 16, all DDOT contractors doing construction on city streets, bridges, sidewalks, curbs, alleys or other infrastructure throughout the District will have to suspend work. DDOT contractors can view the stoppage announcement* for more information.

In addition, there will also be a temporary moratorium on work in public space inside designated Inaugural boundaries in the downtown area. Utilities and developers with public space permits can view the notice* for more information, or see the attached map*.

All work may resume after 7 am on Wednesday, January 21, 2009, during permitted hours.

DDOT contractors and public space permit holders have been previously notified of the temporary stoppage; this is intended as a reminder.

The suspension does not apply to developers and contractors working on private property outside the Inaugural boundaries.

DDOT contractors with additional questions should contact the Infrastructure Project Management Administration (IPMA) at (202) 671-2800. Public space permit holders can call the Public Space Management Branch at (202) 442-4670.
