RFK Parking Passes Distributed

(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announces the mail distribution of RFK Stadium Event Visitor’s Passes to households within the RFK Enhanced Enforcement Zone, along with other information on residential parking for the 2006 baseball season. The mailing also includes: (1) a letter reminding residents of special parking restrictions around the stadium, (2) a map highlighting the boundaries of the RFK Enhanced Enforcement Zone and, (3) a 2006 schedule of events at RFK Stadium.

Drivers with one of the following permits can park in otherwise legal spots (i.e. NOT in crosswalks, at hydrants or other safety-related spaces)

  • Residents with vehicles displaying Zone 6 or 7 Residential Parking Permits (RPPs) as appropriate
  • Non-residents, (i.e. visitors) with valid Visitor’s Parking Pass on the dashboard.

These are the only permits recognized this year. The Special Event stickers issued last year through the DC Sports and Entertainment Commission at RFK Stadium are not valid.

Additional Visitor’s Parking Passes can be obtained from other residents in the RFK Enhanced Enforcement Zone or from the Metropolitan Police Department.

Residents owning vehicle/s without RPPs must obtain a new automobile registration from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Please contact the DMV for locations and hours of operation for obtaining a new registration and RPP sticker at (202) 727-5000. If your vehicle registration has been valid for at least 60 days and your address has not changed, you can request an RPP sticker at DMV.

These special parking restrictions in the RFK Enhanced Enforcement Zone are meant to preserve parking space for residents during stadium events that will draw large crowds from April through October 2006. DDOT strongly urges patrons of stadium events and visitors to the area to utilize public transit.

The RFK Enhanced Enforcement Zone boundaries are: for Capitol Hill, Maryland Avenue and Benning Road, NE, the Anacostia River, Pennsylvania Avenue, SE, and 13th Street, SE/NE; for River Terrace, East Capitol Street, Kenilworth Avenue, Benning Road (all NE) and the Anacostia River.
