DDOT Holds Day-long Open House on Anacostia Transportation Projects

(Washington, DC) The District of Columbia Department of Transportation (DDOT), in cooperation with Councilmember Marion Barry and the Anacostia Coordinating Council, announces a full-day open house to discuss and tour the major DDOT projects slated for the Anacostia area in Ward 8. Called "Transforming Anacostia: Transportation and Development Projects Information Fair," it will be held on Saturday, February 25.

District of Columbia Department of Transportation (DDOT), in cooperation with Councilmember Marion Barry and the Anacostia Coordinating Council.

When

Saturday, February 25 from 9 am to 2 pm

Where

Matthews Memorial Church, 2616 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE (1 block from Anacostia Metro and on several bus lines; because parking is limited, transit use is encouraged)

The following projects will be discussed: the rehabilitation and replacement of the South Capitol Street/Fredrick Douglass Bridge; new ramps for the 11th Street Bridge (the East Washington Project); development proposals for Poplar Point and the St. Elizabeths Campus; the renewal of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE, as part of the Great Streets and Main Street programs; and the planned Anacostia Streetcar.

Transforming Anacostia will allow residents, business owners and interested parties to review, discuss, question and comment on these projects which are under study or planned. Continuous bus tours will be offered of the transportation projects under discussion. Free continental breakfast and box lunches will be provided.
