DDOT and DPW Prepare for Heavy Weekend Snow

(Washington, DC) The National Weather Service is forecasting a possible 4-8 inches or more of snow starting Saturday morning and ending early Sunday. Temperatures are predicted to drop below freezing at night, rising above freezing during the day.

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) and the Department of Public Works (DPW) will mobilize early Saturday morning with some 200 light and heavy plows and trucks. Crews will pre-treat the city’s bridges and overpasses with salt and de-icer and spread salt throughout the system as the precipitation begins and continue through the storm.

Motorists are asked to be drive carefully, paying particular attention to pedestrians and other vehicles, including snow plows, and use mass transit if possible.
