(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) invites the public to discuss the draft streetlight policy guidelines at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, October 19, 2004 in the Reeves Center, 2000 14th Street, NW, 2nd fl. Community Room.
The study, the District of Columbia Streetlight Grand Plan, recommends ranges for lighting intensities, pole types and spacing within industry standards. The study examined different technologies and designs and interviewed vendors and other state agencies. Individual residents, professional consultants and staff from the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts, the National Capital Planning Commission and DDOT directed the study. The guidelines, once adopted, will be implemented as streetlights are replaced as part of future roadway and streetlight contracts.
The study can be found on DDOT's website under Transportation Plans/Studies. Hard copies are in the following libraries: Mount Pleasant, Martin Luther King Jr., Tenley-Friendship, Takoma, Lamond-Riggs, Northeast Branch, Benning and Anacostia
